MOPS or Mothers of Preschoolers, is a ministry led by the mothers themselves and is designed to nurture moms with children from infancy through kindergarten. These ladies all have a shared desire … to be the best mothers they can be!
MOPS meets moms where they are, and offers instruction and support in a relaxed atmosphere of caring, sharing, and fun! Our Whitley Church MOPS group is chartered with MOPS International, Inc. This non-denominational organization helps us to nurture every mother by meeting her distinct needs.
MOPS is primarily led by the mothers themselves with the addition of “seasoned, veteran” moms that are affectionately called “Mentor Moms”.
A typical MOPS meeting includes:
· A brief time to catch up with one another
· We invite a wide range of speakers to discuss various topics.
· Break-out time in small groups to relate to and share advice with other mothers.
· A craft activity or demonstration.
· Yummy Refreshments!!
When We Meet:
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month during the school year from 9:30a.m. to 11:30a.m.
“What will I do with my children while I’m attending a MOPS meeting?”
You will sign your child into the loving care of our MOPPETS volunteers. They are divided into age-appropriate groups and are involved in planned activities such as stories, songs, snack, crafts, and games. There is also a nursery for infants and children under the age of 3 .
Why should a mother of preschoolers attend MOPS meetings?
MOPS recognizes that urban, suburban, rural, stay-at-home, working, single, and married moms all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be. MOPS also recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. Our goal is to be a great comfort and help during this time.
We are one of more than 3,400 MOPS groups that meet across the United States and in 33 countries around the world.
